About this board game

Foundations of Rome (Maximus Edition) is a city-building board game for 2–5 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Take the role of an architect competing to own land and shape a magnificent shared city of Rome.

On your turn, choose one of three important actions: purchase a new lot, build a new building, or collect income. Develop your holdings with domūs and insulae, fountains, foundries, and other structures, creating a city that can increase your renown and bring glory to both you and the empire.

At the end of each round, players collect Glory Points based on the population and commerce they have brought to Rome. Civic buildings offer another path to glory, scoring not only from your own buildings but also from those belonging to your opponents.
