About this board game
Cactus Town is an asymmetric action-programming game for 2–4 players, with an approximately 60-minute playing time. Set in a sleepy Western town, it turns every session into a fast-paced chase, escape, duel, or scheme for control.
Each player takes a distinct role with unique objectives and special actions. Become the Sheriff, lead a gang of dangerous bandits, pursue a ransom as a bounty hunter, or wield the power of seduction as an avenging Can Can dancer. These contrasting sides make the game an accessible introduction to asymmetric gameplay while giving each position its own approach.
On each turn, players program three of their four action cards. The cards resolve in reverse order, so your final programmed choice happens first, while actions alternate between players. You must anticipate your opponents, guess their intentions, and carefully decide when to commit your own plans. Misjudged programming can produce just as much hilarious chaos as a brilliant move.
- Asymmetric roles with separate objectives and special actions
- Reverse-order action programming and alternating resolution
- A randomly arranged 5×5 grid of face-down building cards
- Advanced building effects and several gameplay variants
Characters move through the hidden building-card grid as the story unfolds. You might plunder for gold, steal a horse, seek a ransom, or challenge an opponent to a duel, with every game creating its own cinematic Western narrative.
With multiple sides to try and additional variants to explore, Cactus Town invites you to swap roles and discover new tactics from one session to the next. The Lone Ranger Expansion also supports 1–5 players.
