About this board game

Powerships is a 2–7-player spaceship racing game with a playing time of about 30 minutes. Players pilot powerships around a solar-system course, rounding three space buoys before finally landing on the finish planet.

The modular board uses 16 tiles to create different solar system constellations. Across the layouts are about 662 race hexagon spaces surrounding the sun, along with all the solar system planets and numerous space dust hexagons.

Movement is driven by a system of 3-sided dice that simulates acceleration and deceleration. At the start of each turn, your dice show the speed from your previous turn. You may add or remove a maximum of one die, then choose which retained dice to roll and which to leave unchanged. Your movement equals the sum of the numbers shown.

Before moving, you can turn your powership one side to the left or right within its hexagon space. Planning a route is challenging because the sun, planets, and space dust block paths. Crashing into an obstacle costs speed and damages your powership, limiting the maximum number of dice you can use.

  • Other powerships can occupy desired spaces or serve as bumpers.
  • Special spaces can shift your powership, turn it left or right, double your speed, or let you move over or under obstacles.

With its changing board layouts and momentum-based dice choices, Powerships puts pilots in a race where every turn can alter the best route to the finish.
