In the Shadows: Resistance in France 1943–1944 is a card-driven wargame for 1–2 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. Set between January 1943 and June 1944, it recreates the desperate struggle between the French Resistance and the occupying Nazi and collaborating French forces.

Players take the role of either the Resistance or the Occupation, battling not only for control of the conflict but also for the hearts and minds of the French people. The game focuses on the nuances of the Resistance and the clandestine nature of the fight that helped lead to the founding of the modern French Republic.

Victory is determined by a combination of Occupation Resources and the required Resistance units at the end of the turn. This creates a focused contest in which both sides must work toward their distinct objectives while the struggle develops across occupied France.
