About this board game

Amun-Re is a board game for 3–5 players with an approximately 90-minute playing time, first released in 2003. Players take the roles of leaders from royal Egyptian families, seeking to build the most pyramids along the Nile.

Every great monument begins with the right province. Players choose their sites and acquire provinces where they can trade and farm, creating the profits needed to expand their holdings and gather the materials for construction.

As the game unfolds, those profits can be used to:

• Buy new provinces
• Purchase building-stones
• Erect pyramids
• Offer appropriate sacrifices to Amun-Re and the other gods

The path to prosperity requires more than simply accumulating resources. For every action, players must make clever use of their power cards and decide how best to turn their provinces and profits into lasting monuments.

Religious devotion is also central to the struggle. Players thank Amun-Re and the other gods for their bounty while making the sacrifices needed to support their ambitions. The choices surrounding provinces, construction, power cards, and offerings shape each royal family’s progress.
