In the thematic setting of Potion Explosion, each player takes on the role of a student at the alchemical academy. Our aim is to create powerful potions to dazzle the teachers and outshine our classmates. The game board represents your workstation, complete with recipe book and potion bottles.

The core mechanics of the game revolve around a unique ingredient dispenser, which holds a variety of potion ingredients in the form of colourful marbles. On your turn, you are allowed to take an ingredient from the dispenser. If by removing the chosen marble, you cause two marbles of the same colour to collide, they explode! This explosion allows you to take these marbles too, potentially causing further explosions in a cascading effect. You then use these collected ingredients to brew your potions.

Each potion requires a specific combination of ingredients to complete. Once brewed, these potions can be used for their magical effects or to earn points. The magical effects provide additional strategic options, allowing you to bend or break the game rules, or interfere with your opponents.
