About this board game

Carcassonne für 2 is a two-player tile-placement game with an approximately 25-minute play time, in which players build a landscape of southern France while competing to score the most points.

On each turn, a player draws and places one tile next to those already played. Tile edges must connect correctly: cities connect to cities, roads to roads, and so on. The growing landscape may feature cities, roads, cloisters, grassland, or combinations of these elements.

After placing a tile, the player may choose to place one of their meeples on an area shown on it. A meeple can become a knight in a city, a robber on a road, a monk in a cloister, or a farmer in the grassland. When the relevant area is completed, that meeple scores points for its owner.

Every placement creates meaningful choices. You may need to decide whether using your last available meeple is worthwhile, or whether a tile should expand your own city instead of being placed near your opponent to make their project harder to complete. Because each turn involves only one tile and the option to place one meeple, the game moves quickly while leaving plenty of possibilities to consider.

Designed specifically for two players, Carcassonne für 2 comes in a metal box and includes:

  • 48 landscape tiles
  • 12 meeples
  • Tile connections involving cities, roads, cloisters, and grassland

With its compact format and direct competition, Carcassonne für 2 offers a focused way to experience the familiar landscape-building challenge of Carcassonne in a dedicated head-to-head game.
