Double Bananagrams

About this board game

Double Bananagrams is a fast-paced anagram game for 2–16 players that plays in about 15 minutes. Using double the letter tiles of Bananagrams, it challenges everyone to build an individual crossword at the same time.

To begin, place all the letters face down in the central “BUNCH.” Each player takes 11–21 tiles, depending on the number of players, then waits for someone to call “SPLIT.” Everyone turns over their tiles and starts forming words in their own connected crossword.

There are no turns to wait through: players work simultaneously and may constantly rearrange their crossword as new words take shape. When a player uses every tile in their personal supply, they shout “PEEL” and take one tile from the BUNCH. Every other player must take a tile at the same time.

• PEEL: Take one tile when you have no letters left; all players take one too.
• DUMP: Return a difficult letter face down to the BUNCH and take three tiles in exchange.
• BANANAS: When the BUNCH is empty, the first player with no letters left calls it and wins the hand.

The DUMP rule can be used at any time and as often as desired, giving players a way to exchange an awkward letter for three new possibilities. With its simultaneous play, constant rearranging, and race against the shrinking BUNCH, Double Bananagrams turns word-building into a lively group challenge. It is designed for ages 7–97 and can be played anytime, anywhere.
