About this board game

Manoeuvre: Distant Lands is a stand-alone expansion for two players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Released in 2017, it brings the battle beyond the familiar European continent with four new armies, fresh abilities, and eight new land tiles.

Command Sweden, the splintered kingdoms of India, the Chinese 8-Banner Army, or the crumbling Tokugawa Shogunate. Each nationality offers a distinct military identity, from Sweden’s traditional European profile to the Indians’ fast but unruly guerrilla force, which excels at denying opponents resources or freedom to manoeuvre.

  • Sweden: A balanced army reminiscent of the Prussians and Russians, but positioned below them in overall strength.
  • Indians: A coalition of Marathas, Mughals, Mysore, and Sikhs, combining speed with rivalry and disruption.
  • Tokugawa Shogunate: Clan-led forces featuring guns, cavalry, samurai, teppo, and the deadly Banzai charge.
  • China: Elite Manchu and Mongol horsemen supported by rockets, witchcraft, Han conscripts, and Tuan Lian peasants.

The new terrain tiles introduce swamps and fields of the Orient alongside Scandinavian forests, requiring veteran players to learn new tactics. The set also includes rules for new abilities and advanced Manoeuvre additions, plus three Advance-to-Contact counters.

With 32 unit counters and 240 cards—eight counters and 60 cards for each nationality—Manoeuvre: Distant Lands expands the tactical choices available on the battlefield. Bring the fight from the frozen north to the sub-continent and the mythic east in this substantial addition to the Manoeuvre system.
