ScandalOh!

About this board game

ScandalOh! is a deduction game for 1–6 players, with plays lasting about 75 minutes, in which you investigate a different scandal scenario and race to bring the truth to light.

Each case asks three questions: What is the scandal plot? Which celebrity is behind it? Which newspaper will make it public? To find the answers, follow contacts, question newspaper editors, search for clues throughout the city, and consult your sources.

The game’s Brilliant Deck System puts information at the center of play. Every player begins with a hand of seven cards. Each card has a value of 1 or 2 points, based on the amount of information it provides, along with several references connected to that information.

• Ask for information about three different references that interest you.
• Let the other players offer cards containing those references.
• Trade for offered cards by giving the offering players cards from your hand worth the same number of points.

Information can be exchanged openly, or you can keep what you know hidden from your opponents. The result is a tense investigation built around deduction, negotiation, and careful attention to the connections between celebrities, contacts, newspapers, and clues.

At the end of each round, players may attempt to uncover the scandal. If the correct scandal has not been revealed, players discard part of their hands and receive three new cards before the investigation continues. In ScandalOh!, the first player—or players—to uncover the scandal wins.
