About this board game
Arbos is a manual dexterity board game for 1-8 players, with a play time of about 30 minutes. Released in 1999, it challenges players to place wooden branches and leaves onto a trunk that wobbles around.
The aim is simple, but careful placement is essential. Players attempt to add branches and leaves to the trunk without knocking any pieces off. The unsteady trunk makes every placement part of the challenge.
If a branch or leaf falls from the trunk, it goes into the active player’s current pile of leaves and branches. Rather than moving closer to victory, a player who causes pieces to fall must deal with those pieces as part of their own pile.
- Players: 1-8
- Play time: 30 minutes
- Core mechanic: manual dexterity
- Key challenge: placing wooden branches and leaves on a wobbling trunk
Winning Arbos means getting rid of all your leaves and branches before anyone else. Every successful placement helps reduce what you need to manage, while a dropped piece can make your pile larger.
With its wobbling trunk, wooden branches, and leaves, Arbos focuses on physical skill and a clear race to empty your pile. The rules create a direct objective: place pieces carefully, avoid knocking them off, and be the first player with none left.
