About this board game

Enchanted Forest is a memory-based board game for 2–6 players, with a playing time of approximately 60 minutes. First released in 1981, it challenges players to discover and remember where treasures are hidden throughout a forest.

Each tree conceals one treasure. As players move from tree to tree, they can peek at the treasures they find and must keep track of their locations. The central challenge is remembering this information well enough to answer the king’s requests.

When the king asks where a particular treasure is hidden, players race to reach the castle with the correct information. Success depends on combining movement through the forest with careful observation and a reliable memory of what was seen beneath each tree.

The game’s premise is simple to understand: explore, look beneath the trees, remember the discoveries, and respond when the king calls for information. The race to the castle gives each treasure request a clear objective and keeps the focus on recalling the right location.

Several themed versions have also been released. The 1997 Wizard of Oz version includes minor rule changes to accommodate four players while remaining essentially the same game. In 2007, Ravensburger released a Dutch version themed around the Fairy Tale Forest in the Efteling attraction park, titled Efteling Sprookjesspel.
