About this board game

Soulaween is a two-player board game that plays in about 30 minutes, challenging rival death-god trainees to reap fleeing souls and claim victory.

At the bustling festival of Death School, players compete in a race inspired by the school proverb “Soul to win.” Using a soul board, each trainee must carefully put and flip soul pieces, seeking opportunities to gather them before the opponent does.

The central objective is simple but deceptively tricky: arrange souls of the same color into a straight line. When the conditions are right, those souls can be collected as a set. The first player to obtain three sets of souls wins Soulaween.

  • Players: 2
  • Play time: approximately 30 minutes
  • Core mechanics: placing and flipping soul pieces
  • Victory condition: collect three sets of souls
  • Standout feature: variable player powers

Though its rules are approachable, Soulaween rewards thoughtful play. Every placement and flip can affect the race to create matching lines, making each decision part of a tense contest between two trainees.

The festival brings together Papa Death, Osiris, Hei and Bai Wuchang, their trainees, and Teacher Vulture as judge. With its death-school theme, compact two-player format, and combination of board-game tactics and character abilities, Soulaween offers a focused duel built around timing, positioning, and collecting souls.
