Wanderlust: Discover the World

About this board game

Wanderlust: Discover the World is a world-travel board game for 1–5 players, with games lasting about 100 minutes. Players plan journeys, visit locations and beautiful sights, and encounter fellow travelers along the way.

Travel begins during the travel planning phase. Three cities are available at the top left of the board, and players draw transportation cards to prepare for a journey toward one of them. Each connection on the map represents a mode of transit, so players must collect the required cards before setting out.

Players remain in place until they have all the transportation they need. Available travel types include cars, trains, boats, small planes, and jets. Only after the complete trip has been planned can the cards be turned in and the journey made.

• Visit cities and beautiful sights around the world.
• Score points based on the number of connections in a journey.
• Compete for destinations before another player claims them.

Longer journeys can be more rewarding because scoring is based on how many connections they include. However, saving cards for an ambitious route also creates a risk: another player may reach the destination first. The central challenge is finding the right balance between building a larger trip and acting before opportunities disappear.

At the end of the game, three scoring conditions are selected at random. These changing goals give each game of Wanderlust: Discover the World a different focus and provide additional targets to pursue while planning your travels.
