About this board game
Chariot Lords is a strategic empire-building game for 3–4 players, with an approximately 360-minute play time, set in Asia Minor and the Mediterranean between 1500 and 600 BC.
Each player takes the role of a Lord controlling five or six nations. These nations vary in strength, goals, and objectives, and some may not even exist at the same time. Players compete to achieve the victory criteria of their empires while navigating the rise and fall of powerful rivals.
Each turn represents 90 years. New countries emerge, established empires seek reinforcements, and alliances must be arranged. Expansion brings the opportunity to gain victory points, but spreading forces too thin can leave an empire vulnerable to a newly emerging power. Playing too cautiously, however, may prevent you from earning enough points to win.
Conflict involves armies made up of foot and mounted units, along with occasional notable leaders. Conquest is only part of the challenge: you must also be able to hold the territory you take. Nations can become rivals and enter struggles for expansion as the historical landscape changes around them.
