My First Bohnanza

About this board game

My First Bohnanza is a children’s bean-trading game for 3–5 players, with each game taking about 30 minutes. It introduces the core goal of Bohnanza: collect the most Talers by planting and harvesting sets of beans.

Each player begins with five face-up cards and a beanfield tile showing spaces for two types of beans. On a turn, plant the leftmost card in one field, optionally plant a second card, then reveal two cards from the deck. Keep them or trade them with other players, adding all traded cards to your fields before drawing three more cards.

• Group matching bean cards in your fields to reach the required harvest amount.
• Use beanometers to see how many cards earn a Taler.
• Trade revealed cards and cards from your row with other players.
• Harvest fields, collect Talers, and rebuild on any beans uncovered underneath.

The game includes simplified beanometers for an easy starting experience. Four bean types have a single exchange value, while six types offer two exchange values; for the youngest players and newcomers, the single-value cards can be used with the other cards forming the Taler stack.

After players become familiar with My First Bohnanza, the double beanometer cards add more choice about when to harvest. Later games can combine both decks and gradually introduce additional Bohnanza rules, including using a bean card as a Taler, harvesting for no Talers when planting, paying for a third beanfield, keeping cards in hand, and not harvesting a field containing only one card. The game ends after the deck has been played through 1–3 times, depending on the number of players.
