About this board game

Small Railroad Empires is a pickup-and-deliver, track-laying, and set-collection board game for 1–4 players, with a playing time of 60 minutes.

Build a railroad network across a modular board, connecting industries with the cities that demand their goods. Every delivery helps you earn gold, while achievements provide an additional route to prestige and victory.

On each turn, players build their tracks by placing two trains. As routes cross different types of terrain, players must pay the required gold costs, making each new connection an important part of developing their railroad.

Once a track connects a suitable industry and city, the player may send a train to complete the delivery. The amount of gold earned depends on the length of the track, giving longer routes a direct reward.

Players also compete to be first to complete achievements such as making four deliveries or building three tunnels. These accomplishments award extra prestige and create a race alongside the expanding rail networks.

When all players run out of tracks to lay, the game ends. Players calculate their final prestige from their achievements, and the player with the most prestige wins. With its combination of railroad construction, goods delivery, and achievement racing, Small Railroad Empires keeps every route connected to the final score.
