About this board game
Victory in Normandy is a two-player wargame for 1–2 players, simulating the campaign in France from 7 June to 25 August 1944 in approximately 300 minutes.
Played in daily turns, the game covers the fighting from D-Day+1 through D-Day+80 and the fall of Paris. Its 17×22-inch map stretches from Brest to Paris and from Cherbourg to the Loire River, giving the campaign a broad operational setting.
The main units of maneuver are divisions, supported by corps artillery and other support units. Most of the 128 counters are double-sided, allowing units to show step reduction as they absorb losses. The action can develop into close, hard-fought slugfests or expand into sweeping breakouts and pincer movements.
- Daily game turns representing 7 June–25 August 1944
- 15-kilometer hexes and division-level units
- Double-sided counters for step reduction
- A 17×22-inch full-color map and 128 counters
- Basic rules presented in just seven pages
With a medium complexity level and medium solitaire playability, Victory in Normandy is designed to welcome newcomers while remaining tense and engaging for experienced players. The basic rules provide an accessible introduction to the wargaming hobby, and a complete game can be played in an evening, although the listed playing time is 300 minutes.
The game includes a 12-page rulebook, one full-color map, and one double-sided sheet of 5/8-inch counters. A 10-sided die is required but not included. Victory in Normandy was released in 1992 and was also reprinted in Command Magazine Japan #5.
