About this board game
Risk: Metal Gear Solid is a strategy game for 3–5 players, with play sessions lasting around 120 minutes. It combines the familiar territory-conquest gameplay of Risk with characters, units, and special abilities inspired by the Metal Gear Solid video game series.
The game uses the standard Risk world map, but adds the territory of Outer Haven. This territory can be moved around the map to attack other territories, creating an unusual new threat beyond ordinary troop movements. The player who controls Metal Gear Rex can also launch nuclear strikes against remote territories.
Players attack opposing territories with massed troops, using die rolls to resolve combat. Superior rolls can force an opponent to lose troops, while the larger objective remains familiar: gain control of all the territories on the map.
- Special units: Use Solid Snake, the Rat Patrol, Raiden, Liquid Ocelot, Big Momma, and Roy Campbell, each with a unique special power.
- Drebin cards: Collect and play cards that provide additional offensive or defensive powers.
- Metal Gear Solid twists: Move Outer Haven to attack and use Metal Gear Rex to launch nuclear strikes on remote territories.
These additions give Risk: Metal Gear Solid a distinctive tactical layer while preserving the direct conflict and dice-driven combat of traditional Risk. Players must expand their control, manage special advantages, and withstand attacks as they compete for dominance across the map.
