About this board game

Sherwood is an introductory tactical wargame for 1–4 players, with games lasting around 120 minutes. Based on the successful Cry Havoc series, it brings the adventures of Robin Hood and his outlaws to the tabletop in a series of detailed skirmishes.

Players face the Sheriff of Nottingham and his men in Sherwood Forest or at a nearby village inn. Combat is fought at man-to-man scale, with rules covering close combat and missile fire from bows, crossbows, and javelins. Characters can also ambush opponents by pouncing from trees.

The game includes three levels of rules. A streamlined version is intended for players aged 10 and up, as well as people new to wargaming. A second level adds rules for more realistic gameplay, while experienced players can use the complete rules of the Norman Saga series.

With each counter representing one character, each turn lasting two seconds, and each map hex covering approximately two meters, Sherwood focuses on precise positioning and individual action. The 2022 release offers an accessible entry point to tactical wargaming while also providing a path toward more complete Norman Saga rules.
