About this board game
1572: The Lost Expedition is a one-player, approximately 90-minute solitaire game about six surviving conquistadors struggling to reach the Atlantic Ocean after a failed expedition in the New World.
Your commander and entire company have been killed in an ambush in the mountains. With only six survivors remaining, you must descend toward the coastline and signal for help before time runs out—or before you lose all of your Conquistadors.
This is an ultra-portable, one-page black-and-white game. The adventure is limited to 42 turns, with each turn presenting phases such as Map Making, Exploring, and Hunting. During these phases, you allocate a handful of dice in a press-your-luck system, weighing the dangers of pushing onward against the needs of your desperate party.
- Players: 1
- Play time: approximately 90 minutes
- Length: 42 turns
- Format: one-page, black-and-white, ultra-portable solitaire game
- Optional feature: a Journaling phase for telling the story of each turn
The route is dangerous, and your supplies are poor: you are short on food and muskets, while the natives are unlikely to offer help. Every turn brings another decision as you try to map the way, explore the unknown, and hunt for what your party needs to survive.
For players who enjoy adding a role-playing element, the optional Journaling phase invites you to describe what happened during your turn. In 1572: The Lost Expedition, survival depends on reaching the coast in time and keeping your remaining Conquistadors alive.
