About this board game

MATCH 5 is a word and idea-association game for 2–8 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Across three rounds, players use their imagination to connect pairs of icons and earn points for their answers.

In each round, ten combinations of symbols are rolled on the dice. Players have three minutes to find a common link for every combination and write their answers on a notepad sheet. Each combination earns a point, and the player with the most points after three rounds wins.

The challenge comes from finding links that make sense between two unusual ideas. A connection can be a direct category, a concrete example, or a clever phrase that brings both icons together. The game rewards flexible thinking as much as familiar word knowledge.

For example, Shark and Alligator could each connect Carnivore with Water. For a more inventive pairing, Adam’s Apple can link Fruit with Body part. These combinations give MATCH 5 its blend of quick wordplay and imaginative association.
