About this board game

Disney Villains: The Card Game is a 3–6 player card game that takes about 25 minutes, in which matching cards, forced plays, and villainous effects decide who scores the most points.

Each player has a personal deck containing cards numbered 1–6 in various colors. On your turn, play a card matching the number or color of the top card on your pile. However, if that card also matches the top card of a neighbor’s discard pile, you must play it there instead, potentially giving points away.

When no suitable play is available—or when you would rather not help another player—you can place a card face down on your own stack, revealing the hero on its back. On your next turn, you may play any card onto your pile, except one that matches a neighbor’s top card. Hero cards cannot be played onto a neighbor’s pile, and your hand is refilled to four cards at the end of every turn.

  • Match numbers or colors to build your pile.
  • Redirect matching cards to the left- or right-hand neighbor when required.
  • Use hero cards to create future flexibility, while risking penalties during scoring.
  • Trigger special effects that disrupt piles and hands.

When all cards have been played, players count their heroes before scoring. The number of heroes determines which numbered cards must be removed: four heroes eliminate all 4s, while nine heroes eliminate 6s and then 3s. Remaining cards score points equal to their values, so building a large pile is not always enough to win.

Optional special cards bring effects such as curses, exchanges, whirlpools, interference, Hypnosies, and intrigue. With its shifting card piles and difficult choices, Disney Villains: The Card Game turns simple matching into a race for points.
