About this board game
Schnipp & Weg is a two-player flicking game played in about 15 minutes on an hourglass-shaped board. First released as Kosakenschubsen in 2012, it challenges players to knock the opponent’s pieces from the board while keeping their own in play.
Each player begins at one end of the board with nine pieces in their own color. On your turn, flick one of your pieces at one or more opposing pieces. If you remove at least one opponent’s piece without your flicked piece flying off the board, you take another turn. Otherwise, play passes to your opponent.
The game’s progression changes the challenge after every successful round. Remove all of your opponent’s pieces to win the round, then begin the next one with fewer pieces and a starting position closer to the center.
- Start with nine pieces on your end of the board.
- After each round win, start with one fewer piece.
- Begin one level closer to the center after each round win.
- Win the game by taking a round after starting on the fifth row with five pieces.
This escalating structure makes every round of Schnipp & Weg part of a larger contest. Early play begins with nine pieces, while later rounds demand success from a smaller force positioned farther toward the center. Each flick can therefore affect both the immediate turn and the route toward the final victory condition.
With its compact playing time, direct two-player format, and physical flicking action, Schnipp & Weg focuses on clear objectives and quick turns. Knock out the opposing pieces, protect your own from flying off the board, and keep advancing through the rounds.
