King’s Pouch

About this board game

King’s Pouch is a pouch-building strategy game for 2–4 players, playable in about 60 minutes. Set in a medieval kingdom torn apart after the king’s death, it puts you in the role of a feudal lord competing to secure prestige and a place in history.

Each round presents difficult choices about how to expand your pool of citizens and buildings. Draw citizens from your pouch and use them to develop your lands, muster armies, amass wealth, or seek the support of influential figures, including members of the royal family.

The game’s central system resembles deck-building, but uses a pouch filled with several kinds of citizens, including cubes and prisms. Used citizens return to the pouch only when it is empty, making every draw part of a longer-term plan.

• Develop your lands with citizens and buildings.
• Raise armies or pursue the support of powerful characters.
• Choose whether to protect the royal family peacefully or take what you want by force.
• Keep corruption under control before it undermines your ambitions.

The game lasts nine rounds. At the end of rounds 3, 6, and 9, a great council awards additional prestige points for influential characters and conquered territories.

After the ninth round, the final council brings the game to a close. Corrupt officials and buildings can cause you to gain or lose points, and the player with the most prestige wins. In King’s Pouch, the path to supremacy is yours to choose—but every strategy carries consequences.
