About this board game
Alpenglow is an engine-building board game for 2–5 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Across two seasons, players compete to build the most successful ski area on a mountain while helping develop the adjacent village.
On your turns, collect skiers and choose how to expand your resort. Play run cards, build chairlifts, assign runs on the mountain, add buildings to the village, and open your ski area so skiers can reach the slopes. Running your chairlifts generates money and Victory Points, giving you the resources to continue developing your plans.
- Mountain competition: Build your ski area with chairlifts and runs while racing against rival tycoons.
- Shared village development: Expand the adjacent town collaboratively to attract more skiers.
- Engine building: Find synergies between your actions and maximize your resources each turn.
- Variable setup: Starter tiles help make each game unique.
Victory Points come from buildings, chairlifts, delivered skiers, and completing goal cards. The challenge lies in balancing your own resort’s growth with the shared development of the village, while making each turn work as efficiently as possible.
With tile laying, card playing, and network building woven into its two connected areas, Alpenglow combines familiar mechanics into a ski-resort competition with plenty of room for different approaches. The tycoon with the most Victory Points after two seasons takes over management of the mountain.
