About this board game

Cauldron is a competitive fantasy board game for 2–5 players aged 10 and up, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Players take on the roles of powerful mystical characters, including the Druid, Shaman, and Wizard, as they compete to reach 35 Magik.

At the heart of the game is a central set of fields that produces potion ingredients each season. Players harvest resources such as frog legs, spider webs, and dragon eggs, then combine them in their potions to earn Magik—both the game’s victory points and its currency.

Each character has variable powers that modify how basic actions are resolved, giving the different mystical roles their own distinctive influence on play. Players also manage hands of spells, creating opportunities for tactical assistance or direct interference as the competition develops.

Once all available ingredients have been harvested, players can invest some of their Magik in new opportunities. Choosing whether to spend resources on immediate advancement or strengthen future turns is central to Cauldron, making the balance between short-term progress and long-term investment especially important.

The game includes elements of luck and conflict, but its main focus is resource management, planning, and investment decisions. The first player to reach 35 Magik wins, turning every potion, spell, harvest, and purchase into part of the race for magical power.
