About this board game

Bordeaux is a paper-and-pencil wine-making game for 1–75 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Across 13 turns, representing years, you work to create, age, and sell artisanal wines while pursuing the highest quality and prestige in France.

Each year, assign workers to one of two activities: Make Wine or Gather Resources. For each action, choose a duration of one, two, or three years. Longer durations provide more powerful actions, but they also mean that the assigned worker takes longer to become ready again.

Success comes from planning how your workers spend their time throughout the 13-year game. You must balance immediate opportunities with longer-term commitments, deciding when a stronger action is worth waiting for.

Bordeaux is a condensed version of the board game Fromage, designed for portability and convenience. This travel-sized game fits easily in a backpack and does not require a table, making it suitable for playing in the backseat of a car, on an airplane, at the beach, or while standing in a long line at a game convention.
