The Hobbit: An Unexpected Party is a fast, action-based tabletop game for 2–4 players that takes about 60 minutes to play. Set during the opening scenes of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, it invites players into Bag End as the thirteen Dwarves arrive unannounced.

Step into the Dwarves’ shoes and earn points by performing lines from the song “The Things Bilbo Hates.” Move around Bag End, gather items, and cheerfully make a mess while Bilbo watches the unexpected antics of his guests.

Bilbo may begin by showing curiosity, but his patience has limits. Keep the mischief going without pushing the hobbit too far, or you could find yourself sitting in the Dining Hall with no dinner.

• Perform song lines, move around Bag End, gather items, and score points

The game ends when all 15 lines of the song have been completed or when Thorin arrives. The player with the most points wins by doing the best job of arousing Bilbo’s curiosity and shaking up his sheltered life.
