About this board game

Shadow Raiders is a 2018 survival board game for 4–8 players, with play lasting around 60 minutes. Three groups—the Shadows, Raiders, and Citizens—struggle against one another to survive.

Each player belongs to one of these groups, but must conceal their identity from the others. At the beginning, you do not know whom you can trust, making every action a potential clue and every suspected ally a possible enemy.

The key to victory is identifying your allies and enemies early. As the game develops, other players may decipher your allegiance through your actions or through Hermit cards. You may also reveal yourself deliberately to use your character’s special ability.

• Conceal your group identity while assessing the other players.
• Use actions, Hermit cards, and special abilities to uncover the truth.
• Complete your group’s win condition before your enemies do.

Once a player’s identity is revealed, their enemies can attack with impunity and use their special abilities against them. This makes timing crucial: staying hidden can protect you, while revealing yourself may provide the power needed to change the course of the game.

The ancient battle eventually comes to a head when someone completes their win condition. In Shadow Raiders, victory is even possible in death, so being eliminated does not necessarily mean your struggle is over. Conceal your allegiance, read the table, and decide when the time is right to expose your true side.
