About this board game
Hoyuk is a board game for 2–5 players, with sessions lasting about 60 minutes, in which clans build a Neolithic settlement and compete to score the most victory points.
Set roughly 10,000 years ago in the Middle East, the game places your clan in a valley shared with four other clans. The community has moved beyond its nomadic past, settling down to harvest crops, raise animals, and construct a growing village.
During the game, players use tiles representing houses to build a replica of a Neolithic settlement on the Hoyuk board. Additional structures and features help shape each clan’s settlement, while the village gradually fills with tightly packed dwellings.
- Build houses across the settlement board.
- Add ovens, shrines, pens, and other pieces to support your construction.
- Develop a settlement with multiple possible paths to victory.
- Make choices that help your clan score the most victory points.
Hoyuk means “hill” or “mound” in Turkish, a name inspired by prehistoric settlements whose layers of houses were built over older constructions. With homes packed closely together and no streets between them, people entered their dwellings through the roof.
As generations pass, new houses rise above the remains of earlier ones. The greatest families display their shrines and wealth, and each clan seeks to become the one that rules this growing multitude. With many choices along the way, Hoyuk challenges players to build the best settlement and guide their clan to supremacy.
