About this board game

Adventure Time Card Wars: Ice King vs. Marceline is a two-player card game for 30 minutes, released in 2015. It recreates the competitive Card Wars battle from Adventure Time, with two ready-to-play forty-card decks facing off across four combat lanes.

Each turn, players receive two Action Points to spend on Creatures, Spells, and Locations. Cards cost between zero and two Action Points. Summon a Creature into a lane, use its FLOOP ability when available, and attack down the lane to challenge opposing Creatures—or deal damage directly to your opponent’s Hit Points.

The Ice King commands an IcyLands deck built around direct attacks. Frozen tokens can be placed on an opponent’s Landscapes, making those lanes difficult to fill with Creatures and creating openings for powerful strikes. Marceline uses a Useless Swamps and NiceLands deck that combines denial, discard, dirty tricks, and destructive sacrifices.

  • IcyLands: Freeze opposing Landscapes and look for clear lanes.
  • Useless Swamps: Disrupt opponents and turn willing victims into sources of destruction.
  • NiceLands: Build around Creatures with exactly five damage on them.

Reduce your opponent’s Hit Points from 25 to 0 to become the Cool Guy and win. With all-new cards aside from a few rainbow card repeats, Adventure Time Card Wars: Ice King vs. Marceline offers a distinct matchup while remaining ready to play straight from the box. Players can also mix the decks together to create their own righteous combinations.
