Nature: Big Box Edition

About this board game

Nature: Big Box Edition is a card-driven tableau-building game for 1–6 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. Players develop species, adapt to scarce food and predators, and compete to sustain the most population across four rounds—or five when using one or more modules.

Each round begins with the Adapting Phase. Use five cards as actions to increase population, increase body size, play traits, or save cards for food during the Feeding Phase. Traits such as Fast, Climbing, and Pack Hunting let species respond to different challenges and opportunities within the ecosystem.

During the Feeding Phase, feed as much of your population as possible. At the end of every round, you score one point for each population you keep alive, making survival and careful adaptation central to victory.

• Flexible strategy: Favor evasive play with Flight, embrace greater aggression with Jurassic, or face a harsher survival challenge with Arctic Tundra.
• Big Box content: Includes the core game, the first five modules, and one mini-module.
• Many combinations: The current system offers 96 possible ecosystem combinations.

Nature: Big Box Edition is designed to be approachable for casual players while offering experienced groups meaningful ways to customize each session. Its modular structure supports different styles of play, from avoiding conflict to competing in more aggressive environments.

The Nature digital app offers an interactive tutorial and is free to try on iOS, Android, and Steam. A Climate module is planned for 2026, alongside additional mini-modules that will expand the system to more than 700 possible ecosystems.
