Avocado Smash!

About this board game

Avocado Smash is a fast-paced card game for 2–99 players that takes about 10 minutes to play. It challenges everyone to count, watch, shout, and react quickly as they race to get rid of their cards.

The first player begins by saying “one,” and the next players continue in sequence up to “fifteen.” The count then returns to one and repeats. Whenever the number said matches the number on the revealed card, a smash occurs: everyone places a hand in the middle of the table, and the last player to react takes all the cards from the center.

Several special cards keep the action unpredictable:

• SMASH! cards trigger an automatic smash.
• Guacamole cards require everyone to shout “GUACAMOLE!” The slowest player collects the center cards, while anyone who smashes on this card must take them instead.
• Change direction cards immediately reverse the direction of play. The reversal remains until the round ends or another such card appears.

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins, but only if they survive the next smash. If two players run out of cards simultaneously, the first to react to the next smash wins.

With its simple counting pattern and high-speed reactions, Avocado Smash turns every reveal into a tense test of attention. It is based on the traditional snap variant and drinking game “Irish Snap.”
