About this board game

Keys to the Castle is a tile-based strategy-and-luck game for 2–4 players that plays in about 20 minutes. Players open and close doors represented by tiles as they travel along a path, racing to be the first to cross to the other side.

The tiles form the board, creating a fresh layout from one game to the next. Because the tiles and cards are shuffled, every game of Keys to the Castle can produce a different outcome, combining tactical choices with an element of luck.

Special cards give players ways to deal with obstacles and interfere with the journey across the castle. Use them at the right moment to open a route, stop another player, or find a different way forward.

• Hacksaw: Cut through barred doors.
• Skeleton key: Unlock padlocked doors.
• Net: Stop a player in their tracks.
• Secret passageways: Maneuver toward the other side.

Easy to learn and quick to play, the game centers on deciding when to open or close doors and when to use a special card. The changing tile layout keeps the route unpredictable, while the race to cross gives every move a clear purpose.
