About this board game

Barnyard Roundup is a family bluffing card game for 2–6 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Designed for ages 7 and up, it brings adults and children together for a lighthearted contest of deception, deduction, and farmyard collecting.

The goal is to collect the most valuable farm animals for Farmer Brown to sell on Market Day. On your turn, play cards face-down from your hand and declare what they are. Then, give one other player the choice to decide whether you are bluffing or telling the truth.

• If the other player guesses correctly, they receive the Farm Animal card or cards you played.
• If their guess is wrong, you get the card or cards instead.
• Crows can also enter your collection as pests that irritate Farmer Brown and count against you when scoring.

Every challenge creates a small gamble. You must judge what another player might have played, decide when to trust a declaration, and choose whether to tell the truth or try to baffle your opponent. The player who collects the strongest set of animals and scores the most points wins.

Barnyard Roundup is intended to feel engaging for adults rather than like a routine children’s game, while remaining accessible and enjoyable for younger players. Although the recommended age is 7 and up, the game has also been played with children as young as 4.
