About this board game
Library Labyrinth is a co-operative board game for 1–5 players that plays in about 60 minutes, or around 30 minutes as a solo game. Players assemble a team of fictional and historical women to contain escaped literary terrors in a cursed library.
The library is formed from a grid of 25 octagonal floor tiles. These tiles can be flipped and rotated, changing the available paths and revealing different parts of the playing area. Some tiles spawn terrors, while lit paths guide movement through the shifting library.
Players draft book cards from their hands, combining characters with different sets of six skills to defeat specific terrors. Once captured, each terror must be carried through the library and returned to its correct shelf. The character combinations create memorable match-ups, such as the Lady of Shalott facing Dracula or Ada Lovelace confronting a Kraken.
- Co-operative play for 1–5 players, with a solo mode
- Rotating and reversible tiles that continually disrupt the library
- Book-card drafting and skill combinations for capturing terrors
- Six shelves to fill before time runs out
Each turn gives a player three actions. You can pick up or trade cards, flip or rotate a floor tile, move along a lit path, capture a terror, or place one back on its shelf. One action may also be donated to another player, encouraging coordination.
After every player turn, a curse disturbance card rotates a tile or spawns another terror. Fill all six shelves to win, but lose if the curse deck runs out or six terrors remain on the library floor. Library Labyrinth can be adjusted from a game suitable for ten-year-olds to a fiendish puzzle by changing the tile layout, using harder monsters, or reducing the available time. A booklet about the characters and terrors is included.
