About this board game

Deranged is a gothic semi-cooperative adventure survival game for 3–6 players, with sessions lasting about 180 minutes. Over three days and nights, you must survive a dangerous city and leave it uncursed and human to win.

The city is built from a modular game board, while scenarios shape the unfolding experience. You face rival players, horrific monsters, and your own inner demons as you search for a way through the darkness. The game never guarantees when a player will change—or which player will become one of the deranged.

Once transformed into a monster, the only way to become human again is to kill another player. This creates a tense balance between cooperation and betrayal: temporary alliances may improve your chances, but they can collapse the moment survival demands a deadly choice.

  • Semi-cooperative survival: Work together when it helps, while pursuing your own path to victory.
  • Hidden objectives: Every player has a personal goal that may conflict with the group’s plans.
  • Deck-building elements: Develop your capabilities as the scenario unfolds.
  • Rising doom: Death does not eliminate a player, but each death increases the level of doom and can bring curses or other consequences for the group.
  • Gothic components: Modular locations and miniatures represent players in both human and deranged forms.

With no player elimination, everyone remains involved even as the city becomes more perilous. In Deranged, trust is temporary, transformation can strike at any time, and every decision may bring you closer to escaping—or losing—your humanity.
