About this board game

Kabuto Sumo: Beetle Brawl is a dexterity, strategy, and luck game for 2–4 players that plays in about 20 minutes. Take the role of a rhinoceros beetle competing for supremacy in the ring and a place among legendary wrestlers.

Inspired by the coin-pusher arcade experience, the game challenges you to strategically slide pieces onto the board. As pieces move and push against one another, you anxiously anticipate the cascade of movement and try to send your opponents out of the ring.

The setting draws on Japan’s springtime return of the rhinoceros beetles, known as Kabutomushi, or “helmet bugs.” In the wild, these beetles butt heads to demonstrate their strength and wrestling skills, inspiring the phenomenal World Insect Wrestling Championship.

Every placement becomes a tense contest of positioning and anticipation. You must look for the right way to slide pieces onto the board while trying to disrupt rival wrestlers and keep your own beetle in the ring.

Initially released as a Target exclusive, this edition of Kabuto Sumo features six playable wrestlers, including the Kabuto Sumo: Flor de Muertos Promo. It delivers an exciting insect wrestling contest where clever choices and a little luck can decide who remains standing.
