About this board game

Garden Geckos is a tile-laying and objective game for 2–6 players, played in about 45 minutes. Each player guides five geckos through a garden, working together to capture bugs, claim valuable tiles, and complete objectives for victory points.

On your turn, place one terrain tile from your ongoing hand of three. The tile must be adjacent to a board tile with a matching terrain side, then you place a gecko over the matching pattern across the two tiles. Every tile placement can reshape the garden and create opportunities for future objectives.

When a newly placed tile fully surrounds a previously placed tile, the bug on that surrounded tile is awarded to the player with the most geckos touching it. This makes gecko positioning important as players compete to control the bugs revealed by the growing layout.

  • Chain objectives: Link geckos to connect certain bug types.
  • Terrain objectives: Occupy specified terrain patterns at the same time.
  • Secret bonus: Begin with a hidden bonus tied to a particular bug or terrain type.

Objectives are available in an objective market, and placing a gecko can earn one or more when it creates a qualifying bug sequence or terrain sequence. Each objective card also shows bug points, contributing to your final score along with awarded tiles and your secret bonus.

The game ends when a player achieves six objectives or the last available tile is drafted. In Garden Geckos, the winner is the player with the most bug points collected from objectives, awarded tiles, and their secret bonus.
