About this board game
Flanx is a fast-paced card game for 1–4 players, with a two-player game lasting about one minute and a listed play time of around five minutes. Players build a shared battlefield from square cards, attacking and defending simultaneously as they try to encircle the opponent.
Each card features forms and colors that must connect according to specific matching rules. The game begins with two matching cards at the center of the table. Both players then draw three cards and start placing them at the same time, creating a tense contest of speed, positioning, and tactical awareness.
Every placement must satisfy three conditions:
- The card’s form and color must match those of adjacent cards.
- The card must be orthogonally adjacent to at least one of your own cards.
- The card must be diagonally or orthogonally adjacent to at least one opponent card.
The main objective is to place a card behind an opponent’s card. Reaching this position wins the game immediately. Alternatively, players can build a path toward the opposite side of the table, making the layout itself central to the struggle.
Because the table is the battleground, every game of Flanx can develop differently depending on the space and arrangement available. The simultaneous play keeps both players active at all times, with no waiting for turns while the card pattern expands.
Flanx also includes special rules for playing with children and a solitaire variant called Zen Mode. The game is known as Omiga in some countries, offering the same distinctive combination of rapid card placement, spatial tactics, and pattern matching.
