About this board game
Fief: England is a strategic medieval game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Each player leads a family of nobles competing to become the most powerful force in the Kingdom of England.
Power comes from three interwoven strengths: politics, economics, and military might. Build alliances through marriage, award Royal and Ecclesiastic Titles to your noblemen and noblewomen, and convene Parliament to raise taxes. These titles bring influence, victory points, and the right to elect or be elected King or Queen of England.
Control Cities, Mills, and Abbeys to generate income, while nobles holding Lord or Ecclesiastic Titles can levy taxes on their fiefdoms. Spend that wealth to acquire troops, Mills, Strongholds, and Titles—or use it to bribe or assist other players as you pursue your family’s ambitions.
- Raise knights, sergeants, archers, and crossbowmen.
- Deploy bombards and trebuchets as siege engines.
- Occupy Cities to expand your control and contest rival territories.
- Resolve battles when troops from more than one player occupy the same City.
Marriage alliances can transform the balance of power, allowing two players to share a path to victory. The game ends when a player reaches 3 victory points, when two players allied through marriage reach a combined 4 victory points, or at the end of Round 7—whichever applies first.
In Fief: England, the player or alliance with the most victory points wins. If the result is tied, the winner is determined by the highest Title, making political status just as important as wealth and military strength.
