About this board game
Movie Night is a cooperative movie-naming game for 1–10 players that plays in about 5 minutes.
Work together and draw on your collective movie knowledge to find a film everyone can agree on. Each round begins with a description card for the “Movie has…” column, such as “Female Main Character.” The group must name a movie that matches it before continuing.
Once a movie has been named, reveal the next description. If that description fits the movie you just chose, add it to the “Movie doesn’t have…” column. Your next choice must then satisfy the growing combination of conditions: it must have the descriptions in one column and not have those in the other.
- Name a movie matching the current description.
- Reveal another description and check it against the movie.
- Build a chain of “has” and “doesn’t have” requirements.
- Reach a final movie after five descriptions.
For example, if the group names Frozen for “Female Main Character” and the next card says “Animation,” the team needs a movie with a female main character that does not have animation. In the example, the answer is The Hunger Games.
Keep naming movies and flipping description cards until five descriptions have been revealed and a final movie has been chosen. Complete the challenge within the time limit to win. With 36 cards, Movie Night contains twice as many cards as the 18 cards included in Apropos of Movies.
