About this board game
48th Panzer Korps: Battles on the River Chir is a two-player battalion- and regiment-level simulation of the battles on the Chir River from December 7–12, 1942, with an approximate play time of 240 minutes.
One player commands the Soviet 5th Tank Army, while the other controls the German 48th Panzer Korps. The game focuses on the distinct capabilities of armor, infantry, and weapons units, requiring both sides to make the most of their available formations.
The Soviet player must pursue drives deep into German positions, while the German player faces a difficult defensive challenge. With only a small number of powerful mobile units, Germany must blunt repeated Soviet advances before seeking opportunities to counterattack.
Each turn represents 12 hours, and every hex covers one mile. Units range in scale from companies to regiments, providing a focused operational view of the fighting while keeping the action centered on movement, unit capabilities, and the shifting pressure of the offensive.
