About this board game
Cubiko is a fast board game for 2–4 players that takes about 10 minutes to play. Released in 2009, it challenges players to bounce a ball onto a 3×3 grid and use the result to place their marker.
The space where the ball lands determines where you put your marker. The aim is to create three in a row or three in a square before your opponents can do the same. Players can also knock out opposing markers, adding another way for the board to change.
The ball does not simply determine a single placement. If it knocks markers around the board, the situation can change in an instant, so every bounce may alter the path to victory. A promising arrangement can shift as quickly as a marker is moved or knocked out.
- Bounce the ball onto a 3×3 grid.
- Place your marker where the ball lands.
- Knock out opponents and adapt when markers are moved.
- Make three in a row or three in a square to win.
Cubiko grew from an idea Gavin Birnbaum had in November 2008 while rolling a ball onto his son’s toy box. With help from family and friends, that inspiration evolved into the game it is today.
