About this board game
Archaeologia is a board game for 2–4 players, with an average play time of 40 minutes, that transports players to the world of 1930s archaeology. Dig through successive strata, uncover the remains of different eras, and strive to become the greatest archaeologist of your time.
Your expedition reaches across a wide stretch of the past. The archaeological layers hold discoveries from the Bronze Age, Prehistory, the Cretaceous, and the Jurassic. Each stratum offers a different glimpse into the distant past, creating an expedition that spans both human history and the age of the dinosaurs.
Success depends on making good use of the tools and other means available to you. Archaeologia invites players to embrace the excitement of discovery while competing for archaeological renown. The central goal is clear: make the most impressive finds and earn recognition as the greatest archaeologist.
- Explore several archaeological strata.
- Discover four distinct eras: the Bronze Age, Prehistory, the Cretaceous, and the Jurassic.
- Use tools and other available means during your expedition.
- Watch out for the black market and thieves on archaeological sites.
Yet the field is not without danger. Black-market activity and thieves are common on archaeological sites, adding a threatening edge to the race for discovery. Protecting your progress is just as important as uncovering the past.
Designed, illustrated, and published by Olivier Laffont, also known as Grob le Gueux, Archaeologia was released in 2014. Its compact 40-minute format makes it an accessible choice for groups looking for a focused archaeological adventure filled with ancient eras, ambitious exploration, and the hazards of the site.
