About this board game
Catch the Match is a pattern-recognition game for 2-8 players that takes about 15 minutes to play. The goal is simple: be the first to find the one object that is identical on a pair of cards.
The game includes 15 large, sturdy cards. Every card shows the same 15 objects, including items such as kites, balls, pencils, and fish, but the objects appear in different colors and different locations from card to card.
- 15 large, sturdy cards
- 15 objects represented on every card
- One and only one identical object between any two cards
- Play for 2-8 players
- Approximately 15 minutes of play time
To play, compare two cards and scan the array of objects for the matching item. Because each pair always shares exactly one identical object, the focus stays on visual observation and quick pattern recognition.
The changing colors and locations make each comparison a fresh search. Players must look beyond an object’s position and distinguish the identical image among the many objects displayed on the cards.
Catch the Match was released in 1995 and offers a straightforward competitive activity built around finding the answer first. Its compact rules and clearly defined objective make the game easy to understand: examine the cards, locate the single match, and call it before the other players do.
