About this board game

Schildi Schildkröte is a children’s game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 5 minutes. Released in 2004, it brings the excitement of the Turtle Olympics to the tabletop with ingenious wooden turtle pieces.

Animals from across the glade have gathered in the stadium for the 1111th Turtle Olympics. Henry Hare, Cheeky Badger, Herbert Hedgehog, and Rosaly the Racing Caterpillar are among the famous competitors, while Twiddle Turtle waits nervously at the starting line for the competition to begin.

Rather than offering just one activity, Schildi Schildkröte is a game system of five games. Each challenge explores a different style of play, while all of them use the distinctive turtle pieces at the heart of the design.

  • Racing: compete to move turtles forward.
  • Dexterity: put careful control to the test.
  • Luck: let chance influence the contest.
  • Bluffing: add uncertainty and deception to the action.
  • Turtle Soccer: play a turtle-themed sporting challenge.

The wooden turtles have an ingenious movement system: roll the top backward, and the turtle rolls forward. This unusual mechanism gives the game its central physical character and makes every event feel connected to the lively Olympic setting.

Nominated for the Kinderspiel des Jahres 2005, Schildi Schildkröte offers young players a collection of short challenges in one charming package. The game is also expanded by Schildi Strandkröte.
