About this board game

COSCA: Take Over the Mafia is a strategy party game for 3–5 players, with a playing time of about 60 minutes. Across seven rounds—one week in the New York underworld—rival families compete to become the new power at the table.

At the start of each day, players hide their dice behind screens and secretly select symbols. The dice represent henchmen, and each symbol corresponds to one of six city locations. Locations are resolved one by one, allowing families to gather resources such as money and guns.

The dice are never rolled. Instead, players use combinations of their selected symbols to qualify for the mafiosos available that day. The display grows by one new card each round, creating fresh opportunities to expand your family’s influence.

• Secretly assign dice to city locations.
• Collect money and guns as resources.
• Make hidden bids for individual mafioso cards.
• Build influence over seven increasingly tense days.

For each mafioso, eligible players secretly bid any number of resources. The highest bidder wins that mafioso’s favor, adding the card to their family and gaining influence in the city. Mafioso cards can also provide extra henchmen on specific days, giving successful families more dice to work with.

Yet influence comes with pressure: the more mafiosos a family controls, the harder it becomes to keep them all. In COSCA: Take Over the Mafia, careful planning, concealed choices, and well-timed bids are essential. After the seventh day, the player with the most mafiosos on their side wins and claims the title of Capo di Tutti Capi.
