About this board game

Giza is a 2005 board game for 2–6 players that plays in about 10 minutes. Set in ancient Giza, it places you in the role of an Egyptian pyramid builder competing to create three outstanding pyramids for Pharaoh Khufu and his descendants, Khafre and Menkaure.

Your goal is to construct the finest three pyramids using good-quality stones. You must also fill your pyramids with as much treasure as possible, building monuments worthy of the Pharaohs’ consideration for their afterlife.

Competition in Giza is not limited to construction. Rivals may try to undermine your progress by sabotaging a pyramid with inferior stones, demolishing levels you have already built, or releasing scarabs at your construction sites to frighten away your workers.

  • Build three pyramids in ancient Giza.
  • Use good-quality stones and fill the pyramids with treasure.
  • Protect your construction from inferior stones, demolition, and scarabs.
  • Thwart rival builders with the same disruptive tactics.

Because opponents can interfere with one another’s work, every builder may need to balance pyramid construction with efforts to hinder the competition. The finest completed pyramids will be the ones chosen by the Pharaohs for their afterlife.

With its Egyptian setting, direct rivalry, and short playing time, Giza presents a compact contest of pyramid building and sabotage for groups of two to six players.
